Tasting Note :
To create the first batch of Tun 1509, David carefully hand selected 42 of the finest casks – 35 traditional American oak barrels and seven European oak sherry butts – from the distillery’s precious aged stocks. All were transferred to Tun 1509, which sits in Warehouse 24, for several months before bottling. This is a rare interpretation of the marrying process and allows all 42 casks to come together to create a unique expression of The Balvenie that’s greater than the sum of its constituent parts.
Deep and rich on the nose, with floral notes, sweet vanilla and orange peel. Velvety smooth to taste with tangy citrus, mellow cinnamon spice and blossom honey.
Speyside Single Malt Scotch Whisky
Characterised by subtle spices and rich honeyed sweetness. Matured for 25 years in specially selected American oak casks of whisky.
No casks will ever produce identical single malt and as a result the single malt from each cask of Single Barrel Traditional Oak Aged 25 Years is unique. Altogether, less than 300 bottles are filled from one cask. Each bottle label is hand numbered and carries the distillation date, bottling date and cask number in which the whisky was matured.
Matured in whisky oak (first cask) and sherry oak (second cask) for a complex yet rich and smooth taste.
The DoubleWood 17 year old share’s the DoubleWood 12 year old’s honeyed, spicy characteristics, it is however different through notes of deep vanilla, hints of green apple and creamy toffee.
A limited edition single malt from the beloved Dufftown distillery. The fourth release in Balvenie’s Tun 1509 Series is the perfect union of 23 hand-picked single casks, 13 traditional and 10 sherry butts. A no-age statement whisky that’s complex, rich and concentrated.
Heavily peated whisky matured for 14 years in American Oak casks.
Characterised by a balance of smoke and the sweet, honeyed Balvenie style
Since 2002, one week each year was dedicated to run heavily peated barley through the whisky-making process, creating a distinctly different Balvenie distillery style, one perhaps more similar to that of 50 years ago.
