A bottle of Yamazaki Puncheon from the 2013 Cask Collection, the final year of the series. Aged in 480 litre oak Puncheon, this is a rich and sweet Japanese whisky, but one that is elegant due to the slightly slower ageing caused by the smaller spirit to wood ratio.
A special edition Yamazaki from Suntory, aged in a 480-litre puncheon cask, which allows the whisky to mature much more slowly than the standard 230-litre hogshead. There's no age statement, but at 48% and unchillfiltered, it's likely to be pretty tasty.

A wonderful example of what Japanese whisky is capable of. We absolutely love this. Extremely smooth, with great complexity and a lovely balance of fruit, silky malt and a touch of smoke.
Producer's Tasting Notes
Yamazaki 18yo is the multi award winning whisky. It is proudly awarded SWSC Double Gold Medal in 2005, IWSC Trophy in 2006 and ISC Gold in 2007.
The richness of sherry and raisins fill the nose then its dark rich maraschino cherries and finally coffee cream chocolate appear. Full body malt.
Tasting Notes from Whiskyfun (Serge Valentin)This one was matured in sherry casks. The nose is very woody, in a nice way, with some varnish, turpentine. A beautiful balance. Some very soft tannins… Extremely oaky but masterfully crafted. The mouth is superbly balanced, with lots of orange juice and spices. Creamy yet nervous, with all sorts of fruit syrups and jams. Besides, the finish is very long. I loved this one: 90 points.
Nose: citrus, freshly squeezed oranges, plum, honey, coconut oil, green apples
Mouth: bright, full bodied, oily coating of lovely flavors, coconut, oranges, peaches, green apples
Finish: long lingering, honey sweetness, slightly bitter citrus
The unpeated half of the pair of bourbon barrel matured whiskies released by Suntory in 2011. Limited to just 1000 bottles in the UK market this was matured in first fill bourbon casks, giving a big spicy and malty whisky.
Suntory Yamazaki Sherry Cask 2016 was a highly anticipated expression with the previous release having been giving the World Whisky of the Year title in the 2015 Jim Murrat whisky bible. And it fails to disappoint. With a nose of sun-dried tomatoes, raisins, cloves and cocoa, a palate of sweet and sour, rich chocolate and hazelnut and a long finish with sweet and sour notes, this mellow yet complex blend is to die for
