Macallan Archival Series Folio 4
Folio 4 features an advertisement including a strathspey composed by James Scott Skinner (1843-1927). The ad notes that Skinner, "The Strathspey King", was moved to music by the lilting flavour and melting resonances of a tumbler of his favourite malt whisky - The Macallan.
The ad, small but groundbreaking, was the first instance of musical notation displayed on a page of British newspaper, The Times, and quite possibly in the advertising of any whisky.
Macallan Edition No 3
Edition No.3 is a collaboration between drawn from a combination of European and American oak casks, presenting a sweet and fruity character.
Macallan Magnum Edition - Masters of...
A spicy gingered cask reflects McCurry’s bold and brave style; a cask of age where oak influence prevails over individual characteristics symbolises Parr’s oblique view of the world;
A classic cask with an intense black cherry note complements Pellegrin’s forceful black and white pictures; two casks reflect Power’s photography which captures the familiar, but from an often obscure point of view.
An ex-European red wine cask imparting a rich mahogany red colour represents Pinkhassov’s contrasting and brightly coloured work; a first fill American barrel with its delicate citrus notes captures Soth’s heritage and spirit of adventure.
The resulting final cask is an intensely sweet yet classic Macallan with edge and depth, bringing the whole creation together and representing the imagination and brilliance of Magnum.

Macallan Rare Cask
Tasting Note:
Nose: Opulent, yet soft and slightly meandering, picture an orchestra setting up: quiet vanilla with deep notes, already in tune; raisin bold and booming, though only in spells; chocolate a star performer, but not a standout; a sweet ensemble of apple, lemon and orange, beautifully balanced with a spicy quartet of root ginger, cinnamon, nutmeg and clove. Then oak conducts, mature and elegant, with patience only time delivers.
Palate: The spicy quartet leads, loud and full, unwavering in their performance. Raisin dares to temper - and succeeds!! – but oak takes control; timeless, polished, rich and resonating. Vanilla and chocolate compliment each other in the background
Finish: Light citrus zest, yet full and warming
