The Cliff View is opulent with flavours of blackberries, blueberries, vanilla, white pepper and nutmeg. The dark fruit flavours linger through the long graceful finish. This inimitable red varietal will reward ageing but is beautiful and complex now.
This special production of a Rhone style wine starts with fine grapes grown in the historic Beit-El vineyards. The vineyards are located 3000 ft. above sea level making for cool evenings along with warm sunny days. This special weather and red mineral soil give optimal conditions for balanced ripening.
This wine is easy drinking and appeals very much to to consumer taste profile. The wine is made in a new world style with upfront fruits and strong flavors, yet not overbearing. The tannins are smooth, rounded, and balanced with strong oak flavor. The wine is aged 12 months in French oak barrels. Generation VIII by Herzog – To Kalon Cabernet Sauvignon is the inaugural release of a special, limited offering in a series of handcrafted, single-vineyard lots honoring the Herzog family's history of winemaking of eight generations. This wine is truly an exquisite example of combining the finest winemaking skills with the most sought-after grapes grown in California. Specially selected grapes were cultivated at the renowned and historic To Kalon vineyards in Napa Valley. These grapes offer significant terroir from one of the world's best-known and historic vineyards. Aromas of currant, cassis, black cherry, and cedar followed by rich flavors of fruit and toasty oak. Full-bodied with well-balanced tannins. For six generations, the Herzog family produced award-winning, quality wines in their native Czechoslavakia. Since moving to the United States in 1948, that tradition has continued under the seventh and eighth generations, with a commitment to excellence undiminished by time. The winery is named after Philip Herzog who, in his position as exclusive supplier of wines to the Emperor Franz Joseph, was awarded the title of Baron in the late 1800s. Reflecting their desire to improve the environment, Herzog Wines are produced utilizing sustainable winegrowing polices and practices directed toward improving their wines and their environment.
